Terms of Service

Welcome to Onit! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Onit's ("Onit," "we," "our," or "us") applications, software, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use our Services. By using Onit, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

2. Account Registration

To access certain features of our Services, you may be required to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information during the registration process and to keep this information current. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Use of Services

Onit grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use our Services for personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.

  • Modify, adapt, hack, or reverse engineer the Services.

  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or related systems or networks.

4. User Content

You may input text, prompts, notes, or other content while using Onit (“User Content”).

  • In Local Mode, User Content is processed entirely on your device using local models. Onit does not transmit, store, or retain any of this content (unless web search is actively turned on).

  • When using remote models, or when using optional features like web search, your input may be transmitted to third-party model or search providers to generate responses or retrieve relevant information.

  • Onit does not store, log, or retain any User Content on its own servers, regardless of model used.

5. AutoContext and Local Mode

Onit's AutoContext feature, when enabled, captures relevant text from your active window to enhance AI responses. This feature is optional and can be disabled at any time.

Local Mode allows you to run Onit entirely on your device using local models. When Local Mode is enabled:

  • No data is sent to external servers for processing.

  • Optional features like web search may send queries to third-party services. These features are disabled by default and require your explicit activation.

6. Third-Party Services

Our Services may integrate with third-party model providers and web search providers. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

7. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Services, including all related intellectual property rights, are and will remain the exclusive property of Onit and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use Onit's trademarks, logos, or other brand features.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Services will immediately cease.

9. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Onit does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Onit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Services.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will post any adjustments to the Terms on this page, and the revised version will be effective when it is posted. Your continued use of the Services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
